Michael Marriott has been working as a designer since 1993. Although trained as a furniture designer, his practice is much broader, including exhibition, product & interior projects. He has often also been involved with many other peripheral aspects of design; teaching, writing, curating, collating, etc. In all his varied practice there is a common core though, which is a search for the elemental nature of the thing in hand. He is known for making supremely well detailed and highly functional objects, renowned for their keen and economical grace. He has designed furniture for some of the highest regarded manufacturers, such as SCP, VG&P, Established & Sons. He has designed exhibitions for the Design Museum, the British Council, Design Museum Gent, and interiors for Koya (Japanese noodle bars) and LBJ (jam & coffee shop).
