Alan Tye is an Industrial Designer and Architect. After qualifying, he worked for Arne Jacobsen in Copenhagen. Later, after winning over 30 National and International Design Awards, he developed Healthy Industrial Design HID a practical method aiming to provide missing factors of design and design education and about which Max DePree President of Herman Miller wrote “Healthy Industrial Design.. “a wonderful description of what all industrial design ought to be”. Tye was twice nominated for the Duke of Edinburgh Designer of the Year and was appointed an RDI in 1986 which he regards as his greatest honour.
