Jon Ardern is an artist, designer, technologist, born and raised in Lancaster. His early years exploring the Forest of Bowland, Lake District and Yorkshire Dales instilled a committed appreciation for the natural world. After studying a BA in sculpture, in the grounds of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, he moved between jobs to eventually study Interaction Design at the Royal College of Art. It was there he met his partner Anab Jain.
Together, Jon and Anab went on to found the interdisciplinary experiential futures studio Superflux. Superflux engages speculative art and design practices to catalyse imagination around alternative futures. This innovative strategy bypasses statistical data to generate tangible connections between present and future, imbuing abstract predictions with emotional resonance.
Their socially committed work foregrounds the complex and deeply interconnected nature of today's challenges and invites us to navigate precarity with active hope. Jon has exhibited at MoMA New York, CCCB Barcelona, National Museum of China, Vitra Design Museum, and V&A London and has been featured in WIRED, Business Insider, Dezeen, Guardian and Evening Standard.
