Patrick Woodroffe is a lighting designer working in the fields of live music performance, opera, dance, film, architecture and special events. He has worked with many of the seminal names in rock music, and has been the creative director for the Rolling Stones’ tours for the last thirty-five years. He has also made lighting designs for many musical theatre productions, classical concerts and special events around the world. In opera, he has created designs where lighting has taken the place of scenery, to convey atmosphere and narrative. He has created some important architectural lighting schemes, including permanent and temporary installations at Highgrove House, Prague Castle, at the Madjedski Gardens, and Somerset House in London. He lit the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Olympic and Paralympics Games in London. In 2014 he was awarded an OBE for lifetime services to the arts.
