Jo Gibbons trained in Landscape Architecture at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1983, and establishing her practice three years later. Jo’s portfolio ranges from strategic planning of cities, green infrastructure, and urban regeneration; through to temporary landscape installations - each setting an example for a sustainable future. Awards include the Landscape Institute President Award, winner of the 2017 World Architecture Festival, and Winner of NLA London Infrastructure Award for TfL’s Sustainable Drainage Systems guide. Jo’s ‘Making Space in Dalston’ project, has been recognised internationally as an exemplar of public realm design, and grassroots neighbourhood planning. In 2016 Jo established ‘Landscape Learn’, a social enterprise programme of tutorials, field trips and essays. Having taught widely, Jo has been an External Examiner at Edinburgh College of Art, and has acted as a specialist external course assessor for the University of Greenwich. She was made a Honorary Research Fellow at Birkbeck, University of London.
