Richard Rogers attended the Architectural Association, London, subsequently graduating from the Yale School of Architecture with a Masters in 1962. In 1968 Rogers joined forces with Italian architect Renzo Piano, winning a design competition for the Pompidou Centre in Paris. The building captured the revolutionary spirit of the time. Rogers established the Richard Rogers Partnership in 1977 (becoming Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners in 2007). He was the recipient of the RIBA Gold Medal in 1985, winner of the 2006 Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, and is the 2007 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate. The work Richard’s team delivered through the Urban Task Force resulted in a significant rise in development taking place on redundant industrial (brownfield) land. He was awarded the Légion d’Honneur in 1986, knighted in 1991 and made a Life Peer in 1996. In 2008 he was made a Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour.
